ADHD For Teenagers, Parents of Teenagers, and Adults

Welcome to our ADHD Counseling Services for Teenagers and Parents!

After three years (and over 6,000 hours) of working with adolescent high school students, we decided that ADHD coaching and therapeutic needs were needed in our community. We specialize in providing comprehensive counseling services for teenagers with ADHD and their parents. We understand the unique challenges that come with ADHD and the impact it can have on daily life, academics, and relationships. Our goal is to provide support, education, and effective strategies to help teenagers and their parents navigate the complexities of ADHD.

Counseling for Teenagers with ADHD

Our counseling services for teenagers with ADHD are designed to address their specific needs and empower them to thrive. We create a safe and non-judgmental space where teenagers can explore their experiences, develop self-awareness, and learn valuable skills to manage their symptoms. Our therapists utilize evidence-based approaches tailored to the individual, such as:

Psychoeducation: We provide education about ADHD, helping teenagers understand their diagnosis, its impact on their lives, and strategies for managing symptoms.

Skill Building: We teach practical skills and strategies to enhance executive functioning, such as organization, time management, planning, and prioritization. We also work on improving self-regulation, impulse control, and emotional management.

Goal Setting: We collaborate with teenagers to set realistic and achievable goals, both academically and personally. We guide them in breaking down larger goals into smaller, manageable steps to foster a sense of accomplishment and motivation.

Self-esteem and Self-Advocacy: We focus on promoting self-esteem and self-advocacy skills, helping teenagers recognize their strengths and build resilience. We empower them to communicate their needs effectively and seek appropriate support.

Counseling for Parents of Teenagers with ADHD

We understand that parents of teenagers with ADHD often face unique challenges in supporting their child’s journey. Our counseling services for parents aim to provide guidance, validation, and effective strategies to help navigate the complexities of parenting a teenager with ADHD. Our therapists work collaboratively with parents, offering support in areas such as:

Education and Understanding: We provide information about ADHD, its impact on adolescent development, and effective parenting strategies to support teenagers with ADHD.

Communication and Relationship Building: We focus on improving parent-teenager communication, strengthening the parent-child bond, and fostering a positive and supportive environment at home.

Behavior Management: We provide guidance on setting clear boundaries, implementing consistent routines, and utilizing positive reinforcement techniques to manage challenging behaviors.

Advocacy and Collaborating with Schools: We assist parents in navigating the educational system, advocating for their child’s needs, and collaborating with schools to ensure appropriate support and accommodations.
